Also, orders over 75.00 get free shipping with the code 'freeship.'

I've moved--permanently! I won't be updating this journal anymore, except perhaps with the odd sale/update notice. Please update your bookmarks: my new weblog (linked through the site) is here. Hope you'll stop by + say hello at my new digs!

Thought I'd let you-all know that I've updated the site with much of what was left over after the No-Coast (which was an ASTOUNDING success--read about it over here--). I've also changed the look--and learned how to do everything all by myself, so now updates should happen with alarming frequency.
Kokeshi are sold out, but I'm planning to have a few up tomorrow night.
...and I'd love your feedback on the new (winter) look.
Cheers!

| No-Coast Craft-o-Rama, Minneapolis, MN, Dec. 3! |
[Nov. 27th, 2005|03:33 pm] |
Hey, all,
Please come by the No-Coast (http://www.nocoastcraft.com) this coming Saturday (12/3/05, 9-4), if you have time. It's in NE Minneapolis (33rd and Central Ave.), and directions are on the website.
The No-Coast Craft-o-Rama is the Twin Cities' only indie craft fair. This year there are over 50 vendors, selling jewelry, baby items, clothing, knit goods, gifts, cards, etc. There will be a DJ and The Roe Family Singers will play. The sale also features a shiatsu masseuse, who can rub your aching shoulders after all your shopping's done!
This is a great way to find locally made, unique presents, and to support Twin Cities (and area) artists, crafters, and businesses (Knack Gallery and Crafty Planet will both be there).
Hope to see you there!

[Nov. 12th, 2005|11:02 pm] |
well... I figured out how flickr works and now I am just a bit addicted. HMM. I sense danger close at hand.

Don't know if that link works or whatever, but my username is ohbara.
ALSO, if you are in Minneapolis next weekend you should come to the MN Ctr. for Book Arts and find me--I have a booth with my friend Caroline selling all sorts of things. 10-5 Sat, 12-5 Sun. mnbookarts.org is their url; the center is located in the Open Book building, which is on 10th and Washington (S), just inside downtown (near seven corners).
ALSO ALSO I hope to have a big ol' SHOP UPDATE for real very soon. As in within the week. If it happens, I PROMISE to have kokeshi, milk bottles, kanzashi kits, etc.
ALSO ALSO ALSO I update every day or so at baradesign.blogspot.com
hope all of you are well! |

| fake or not? |
[Nov. 8th, 2005|09:33 pm] |
hello all,
I just got an email from "five star reviews" (http://www.fivestarreviews.com) asking me to be part of their holiday edition.
Is this for real? Has anyone ever heard of this?
I'm worried about fraud etc., etc.
Any comments/knowledge/information would be grrrreatly appreciated. |

| Ch-ch-ch-changes |
[Oct. 19th, 2005|09:53 am] |
I'm moving over to Blogger, at least for the time being. It's more flexible than livejournal and I like how it looks better. Some of what's already here may appear there at some point (a retrospective-type post) but for now it's all new stuff, and I'm trying to post once a day.
So: check it out. Let me know what you think. |

| | homeward bound | ] | Forgive any blur--lighting was poor!

here they are before the show--my lovely poet-models!
( and then... )
It was exhilarating but exhausting. I was so wiped out and sick afterwards and all weekend and this week until today! But--a good experience, and I think it was neat to meet other designers (altho' I still don't feel like "one of them.")
On the fronts, converging overhead:
tiny animal pouches wee keyholders pun-laced cards mobiles ohhhhh just so much sweetness and then toothaches.
BUT no site update in sight (ha!), even though my new layout is done. May be getting a new web designer on Friday--then an update (oh, all the things I promised you so long ago...) would be not only imminent but also possible. |

| New clothes |
[Sep. 21st, 2005|08:34 pm] |
These are all at the DC as of this afternoon. I need a tripod. I can't take natural light pictures without the camera shaking and the pictures coming out blurry.
a little knitted capelet, big old vintage button from me mum's stash.
( the rest are under here, to help out yr. friends-pages )
I had a lot of fun this weekend making & making, but now I am tired out! This weekend I get to go out of town for a bit but I'm worried that I will agonize over not bringing work with me! Fashion show fitting is on 10/1, and the show itself is 10/7, so that's a bit of stress.
I already have the outfits half completed, so it will be all right. Just--the perfectionist is scratching a bit at the old neuroses at the moment, you know? |

| shirt |
[Sep. 12th, 2005|10:37 pm] |
I haven't been posting because the site isn't updated, blah blah blah. Same old.
But I've been sewing, and now things of mine are in three stores here.
This shirt just sold.

( image-heavy under here )
So I'm doing a ton of sewing and very little to add to the site. I hope that in October I'll have models and will be able to put photos on the site of my clothing. Right now I'm only selling it in brick-and-mortar stores; it's easier.
Once it's updated, the site will have a very different look, and two main sections (two main aesthetics). |

| Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how) |
[Aug. 21st, 2005|01:00 pm] |

This-all is what I want to put up and can't! It's really frustrating. So I'm contenting myself with working on lots of lots of lots of things: a shirt (done without a pattern! and perfect); lots of poms; lots & lost of elephants (some soon to have stars on their foreheads, too!); new fancies; etc., etc. But still. |

I can't relay the good new that the site is working, so I thought I'd just post some photos of what I sent the Sampler.

it all went off yesterday, with a guarantee from the USPS that it would be there by the 20th. |

| oh, dear...what can the matter be? |
[Aug. 17th, 2005|12:39 pm] |
Oh, dear. The site update's not gone as planned, as you may have discovered. SO! Please let me know if you're looking for anything specific. I've listed some new items below.
*Kokeshi (set of 2-->$9; single-->$5; come with case [2] or carrying pounch [1])
*Pomflowers (see photo in prior entry; in various kimono fabrics [specify color] attached to brooch back or hairclip -->$4)
*Kanzashi kit (two-three pieces of kimono fabric, button, and stamens [specify color--red, orange, pink, green, blue, purple]-->$4)
*ZAKKA pack (one large, two to three medium, and two to three small pieces of kimono fabric for crafts [specify color--red, orange, green, blue, multi]-->$9)
*New elephant pins (photos soon--these have sequined collars! [specify color]-->$4)
*Milk bottles (with tiny picnic cloth and paper wrapper -->$3)
---------------
If you're looking for things right away, please email me at ohbara AT gmail DOT com.
I'm hoping to post new prints here, soon. I've lost internet connection at home and so all this is becoming rather more difficult than it ought to be. Please excuse, again, the inconvenience. And thank you for your patience and interest! |
